South African flag Proudly South African

We built it because we were the ones stranded.

TravelNovaZA exists for one reason: nobody should sit on the side of a South African road at night waiting for someone else to arrive with jumper cables.

TravelNovaZA jump starter in use — night-time roadside jump start and load-shedding power backup
The night it started

N1 south of Bloemfontein. 19:40. One bar of signal.

Our founder pulled into a petrol station on the way back from a family visit, killed the engine for ten minutes, and came back to a car that would only click. The battery had been fine that morning. It wasn't fine now.

Roadside assistance quoted two hours. His phone was on 6% because the car had been the charger all day. It was cold, it was dark, and the only thing standing between him and a warm bed was about 400 amps he didn't have.

Someone eventually stopped — a guy in a bakkie with a set of cables and enough patience to reverse into position. Fifteen seconds of cranking and the car was alive again. Driving home, one thought wouldn't go away: why did that need to depend on a stranger?

TravelNovaZA started that week. We wanted one device small enough to live permanently in the boot, strong enough to actually turn over a petrol or diesel engine, and useful on the other 364 days of the year. That's the kit we sell — nothing more, nothing invented for a spec sheet.

South African flag Why it matters here

South Africa is hard on batteries and on patience.

This isn't a generic gadget we localised with a flag. Every reason to own one is something South African drivers deal with every month.

  • Load-shedding wrecks batteries — and phones
Short trips, gate motors, alarms and inverters drain cells faster. The same kit keeps phones and routers alive through stage 6.
  • Long, empty highways
The N1, N2, N3 and R roads have stretches where the next garage is 80 km away and there's no signal in between.
  • Roadside assistance you can't rely on
Two-hour waits are normal, and standing next to a car after dark is not something anyone should have to do.

What we stand for

Three promises we don't bend on.

Honest specs, always

We publish real-world numbers, not cell-level marketing. If the pack is 20,000 mAh, that's what's in the box — and our FAQ says exactly what it will and won't start.

Every unit gets tested

Kits are spec-checked before they ship: charge cycle, clamp safety cut-offs, torch modes, port output. If a unit doesn't perform, it doesn't leave.

Support by actual people

Who we are

A small team in South Africa, packing boxes ourselves.

We're a handful of people — not a warehouse conglomerate. We test the units, write the product pages, pack the orders and answer the emails. If something goes wrong with your kit, you're talking to the same people who put it in the box.
